Our son has been practicing skipping rope a lot this year. He slowly got the hang of the basic idea and managed to swing the rope behind him and climb over in a slow fashion. Then suddenly one day he came home from kindergarten and said I can skip now. At first I was unsure what he meant, considering his level the previous time I saw him. But when we went outside to do skipping rope together, my jaw dropped. Suddenly my son was jumping and jumping and managing ten times on a row before getting tangled up in the rope.
Since that day he has been skipping every day, bringing his rope everywhere. It is really a privilege being able to follow him growing up, learning new things, and to able to explore the world together. Now he is focused on learning to skip backwards – I am sure he will manage that as well before long.
