kindergarten

As the cherry blossoms are the most beautiful, graduation ceremonies are held in schools and daycare facilities all over Japan. The weather is pleasant, students have their spring holiday and many of them enjoy this season having picknicks under the sakura trees and playing in the parks. After a few years of pandemic restrictions, this year we could finally as a family appreciate the cherry blossom season the proper way (although next year I hope our son lets us spend a little bit more quiet time just enjoying the flowers). We visited a few beautiful places in Fukuoka and had pick-nick in a sea of white flowers.

In Japan the new school year begins in April. For our little boy, his life as a kindergarten student started. We attended a little entrance ceremony Saturday for the new children at the kindergarten and it felt quite formal, surrounded by screaming babies and toddlers who wanted to do nothing more than running around and explore their new workplace. When Monday came he was so excited to go to his kindergarten and was so proud wearing his new workout uniform (and when Thursday came he had got his first kindergarten-cold).

I have been fortunate and very happy to have the chance to spend my days with my son for almost three years now, so it was with some sadness that I took goodbye of our father-son existence as I have known it. Now I will try to find new routines to keep spending happy time with my son. Judging from how happy he has been after his first few days at kindergarten, I believe I will miss him more than he will miss me. But at least he will now have a clean house to come home to.
