forest adventure

It has become a yearly spring time tradition since moving to Fukuoka – forest adventure with our son’s cousins. But this year was different since it was the first time mummy could join. There is a company called Forest Adventure that has locations all over Japan where nature loving people can experience the thrill of balancing around high up among the trees and zip-lining through the forest. Our son has come to love this and especially so this time when he could show his mum how to do and be the teacher instead of the beginner.

The place we went to this year is less that an hours drive from home, high up on a mountainside where there used to be a nature park. They have built two courses among the trees – one that is high up with long zip-lines where you need to be over 140 cm to participate (as you might imagine our son is eagerly waiting to reach this height) so for now we had to settle for the lower course which itself is quite elevated. It is made for children over 110 cm tall, so for me who is quite tall, some parts of the course is a bit tricky and I had to balance myself in a quite awkward positions (so I dare say I am also looking forward to the bigger course). It took us an hour and a half to venture through all the different obstacles and when we were done, we enjoyed a nice picnic in the sun.

On the way home we stopped by the beach and played a bit in the water’s edge making it the ultimate outdoor day. Mum was very happy to have been able to finally join this forest adventure and now the three of us are looking forward to the next time we will do adventurous things together again.
