From time to time I have the chance to do some photography work for the wonderful people at Våges in Sweden. Våges is a company owned by four brothers and sisters and they make beautiful and ingenious candleholders. I did a lot of work for them when I was still living in Sweden, but even after having moved to Japan I every so often get the opportunity to do the odd photo job.
This week it was time to take photos of the spring collection. It was an all new situation to me – not only did I for the first time make a makeshift studio in our new house, but I also for the first time had an assistant while photographing. To make my little apprentice happy, we used his room for studio and while I was working on arranging and preparing the set up, he was arranging his toys on the table top as well. When it came to lighting the candles though, I let him watch some YouTube-videos on the iPad to not risk any unwanted accidents.
When we were done in his room, we took everything downstairs and prepared the kitchen table for some soft-window-light-photography, before finishing our day with twilight shots. Later that night when everyone was sleeping, I started to edit the photos. And I found myself with many good chuckles when I saw the photos that my little assistant had taken when he sneaked up and wanted to touch the shutter release button on the camera. I hope we will continue to have as much fun in the future taking photos together.
