There is normally not much vacation for people in Japan. This I do not like. But on the other hand there is a lot of red days scattered around the year, making long weekends something of a not so unusual golden lining to everyday life. This I love. So Monday was day off. Sunday was the emperors birthday, but since Sunday is already a holiday, we had Monday free instead. And Monday we spent taking photos.
I am a photographer, I had a little studio in Sweden before moving to Japan. And what I can truly miss from that old life, is my printer. It was so satisfying to be able to, after having taken some photos that I was really happy with, make an A2 print on a beautiful matte paper. So even more than my own studio, I dream of having a printer here in Japan.
Studio is possible to improvise; Monday I cleared our room, dissembled the kotatsu and placed it outside the bathroom, upended the sofa, rolled up the carpet and put the heater on 27 degrees. And then we had our private maternity photo shoot. It was so much fun, it was so happy, it was a beautiful memory that we will carry with us through life. My wife wanted us to wear jeans. Only jeans. I am much more comfortable behind the camera than in front, but it was fun to take pictures of us together as well as of my two loves. And when I get a printer I will make big prints of us, of my beautiful wife and her beautiful stomach and our beautiful baby boy.
