A week or two ago, my wife and I sat at the dining table talking when we suddenly heard a bang from the window. We went over, expecting to see a bird lying on the ground outside, but the veranda was empty and when I went outside I could not find any trace of a bird (or anything else that could have hit our window for that matter). We forgot all about it until one morning when we came downstairs and opened the curtains. It had been a cold night, and our big insulated veranda windows were covered in small droplets of water on the outside. And there, brought out by the humidity, an imprint made by our invisible visitor showed up. Seeing it I imagined a beautiful owl being the bird colliding with the window, but I believe it more likely was a dove that made a navigational mistake. Luckily it turned out to be a non-fatal one.
