a winter greeting

Recently we came across the first snow of the year, and I am happy to say that I was as excited as my son. As he learned one year ago when we visited Sweden for Christmas, playing in snow is a world of it’s own. There is something magical about being in a white landscape, an untouched field of snow, seeing white trees, feeling the chill on your cheeks, and listening to the creaking sound of your boots as you slowly take a step forward leaving a fresh print of the past behind you. In a way it is a bit like the first few days of a new year when you can see a blank slate of opportunities and hopes for the new year in front of you. Of course the rain will come and make life return to its everyday state, but I feel that if I keep the glistering image living inside of me even when the muddy grass is all I can see, then there is a piece of me that still is walking there on the white field of possibilities.

I want to say happy new year to all of you who take time out of your life to read a few stories from mine. It really is a privilege to have another person somewhere in the world reading the words I am typing and I want to say a big thank you and I wish you all the best for 2025. May it be a shining and happy year when dreams come true.
