mud play

Our son has for a long time dreamt of getting a radio-controlled car to play with. After having visited a friend’s place, getting to play with the friend’s RC cars, the longing grew stronger and stronger and so when his mum was going on a longer business trip and asked our son if there was anything he wanted her to bring when she came back home, there was no doubt what he wanted – a ラジコン (rajikon, short for radio control vehicle). My wife and I made the arrangements and by the time she returned home, our son was so excited to see if she had brought a rajikon with her (and very anxious if it had fitted in the bag). To his joy, she had. Almost before she had entered the house, our son had unpacked the car, with my help put batteries inside, and was test driving the car, smashing into every wall of the house.

Come week-end and we agreed that we better go to the park and play – it is an outdoor ラジコン that can drive through water puddles after all. We met up with our son’s ラジコン friend in the park. It had been raining that night, so together they splashed through puddles and drove through every muddy place they could find. Especially fun was to get stuck in the mud and see dirty water spray from the wheels and they were playing until the cars ran out of battery. With slightly cooler temperatures on the horizon, I have a feeling that we will do many trips to the park this autumn (and I do hope the car is as resistant to water as advertised, or there will be a lot of grief coming).
