bubbles

A little boy can find playtime everywhere, any time. Empty toilet paper rolls become bowling pins in the hallway. The slices of bread takes the shapes of boats, fishes, rockets and moons all while being eaten. The soap and schampoo bottles in the shower are being used as materials to make a sculpture on top of the shower stool. Getting undressed is not boring when using the dirty cloths as basket balls that we try to through into the washing machine. And helping dad with the dishes is fun when the bowls are lakes and there are all kinds of cutlery creatures swimming around in them.

The other day when we came home from the kindergarten bus and my son took off his kindergarten uniform and went to wash his hands, I suddenly heard him call for me with a very excited voice, daddy come quickly. As I rushed to him I wondered what in the world could have made him so agitated, imagining at least a big spider dancing on the floor or the water from the faucet having turned into ice. When I arrived I saw the whole sink covered in bubbles and my son standing there with a big smile on his face and a big bubble between his fingers. Look what I can do, he said and showed me how he could use the soap to make big bubbles with his hands.

The excitement stayed with him all evening, the last words before falling asleep being do you remember how I could make big bubbles with my hands. Of course I remembered, and I am so looking forward to what discoveries he will make next.
