bread

Living in Japan, I have previously talked about what I miss from Sweden. Dear family and friends, of course. Then there are the misty autumn mornings when the world is glittering in the sunrise after a frosty night. And the evening fog by the lake. Another one is proper bread – oh how I have been missing the dark rye bread I always had for breakfast.

But lately my craving for proper bread has been satisfied. Our nearby bakery that specializes in buns stuffed with filling, has started to make loaves of raisin bread and freshly baked they are beyond delicious. In Sweden I would always put butter and cheese or ham and vegetables on my slices, but this raisin bread – I have come to love eating it just as it is.

How funny it feels to think about that next time I go back and visit Sweden, I may very well end up missing the bread from Japan.
